Hosting Storage Guide

REDRIXTECH GUIDES / STORAGE

How much hosting storage does your website need?

A five-page website can use more space than a hundred-page blog. Start with the files, rather than the page count.

Measure what is already there.

If you have a website, check its disk usage in your current hosting account. Look for a breakdown of website files, databases and email, rather than relying on the size of a downloaded homepage. A compressed export is useful for moving a site, but it is not always a measure of its live disk usage.

For a new project, list the material you expect to upload: product images, blog photos, PDFs, downloads and any video files. A text-led company website and a catalogue with thousands of product images are different storage decisions.

Build a simple storage budget.

The example below is an illustration, not a typical WordPress size or a promise about how our storage quota is calculated.

ItemExample budget
Application, theme and plugins600 MB
Uploaded images and documents1,200 MB
Database200 MB
Total before growthAbout 2 GB
Space left in a 3 GB planAbout 1 GB

That remaining space is your working margin. Ask whether it is enough for the next set of uploads, application updates and temporary files. If you already use almost 3 GB, a 3 GB plan leaves little room for ordinary growth.

Check what counts towards the quota.

Before choosing, ask how email, databases, logs, staging copies and locally stored backup files are counted. Do not assume that an included backup service means you can also keep unlimited backup archives inside your account.

RedrixTech includes 30 days of backups with every plan. If the way backups use space matters to your project, ask us to confirm the setup before ordering.

Reduce waste before buying more space.

Optimise images for the size and quality your visitors need. WordPress and themes may create several versions of an uploaded image, so count the whole media library rather than just the original files. Check for old exports, duplicate downloads and abandoned site copies; keep a verified backup before removing anything you may need.

For practical image guidance, see WordPress image optimisation.

Match the estimate to a plan.

  • Starter: 3 GB NVMe. A possible fit for a modest blog or brochure site that fits comfortably within the limit.
  • Business: 10 GB NVMe. More room for a business website, a growing media library or several sites.
  • Power: 25 GB NVMe. More space for larger collections of files or multiple projects.

Storage is only one limit. All three plans have 2 vCPU and 3 GB RAM, while traffic and domain allowances differ. More disk space does not automatically mean more processing capacity. Read how to choose a business hosting plan alongside this guide.

Put your own numbers next to the plans.

Have an existing website? Share its storage usage, the number of domains and what you expect to change. We can discuss which plan fits those requirements.
